After breaking box office records with their first film, the characters from Matchmaking return with this endearing romantic comedy set against Ashkenazi and Sepharic cultural tensions. Maor Schwitzer (Valley of Tears, Shtisel) stars as Baruch Auerbach, a graduate student who continues to live in a small room at the yeshiva where he studied and now serves as the faithful assistant to the matchmaker Malchi (Irit Kaplan, The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem). When Malchi assigns him the task of picking up her younger daughter Shira from the airport, he decides it’s time for him to get married but struggles to be seen as an eligible suitor. Featuring a stellar supporting cast that includes Reymonde Amsallem (Seven Blessings), this sequel is a fun trip in its own right that does not require familiarity with its predecessor.

Surrounded by amazing community of friends and cinema lovers, SERET is celebrating 10th anniversary in The Netherlands, marking ten years of showcasing the best of Israeli cinema to audiences in The Netherlands.
However, this year also marks the most difficult in SERET’s tenure, with the recent and current horrific events in Israel creating an acutely challenging environment for an Israeli film festival.
One of our objectives is to serve as a bridge, connecting different communities through cultural exchange. By promoting Israel’s diversified culture through the medium of film, with works that highlight diverse narratives, traditions, and perspectives, our aim has always been to foster understanding, appreciation and to promote dialogue. This is exactly the impact we need in this challenging environment, and in order to do so, we must be present on the global stage.
SERET NL is honored to continue its mission of promoting Israeli culture and cinema on the international stage, providing audiences in The Netherlands with a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Israeli life and creativity through the art of filmmaking.
