THIS YEAR’S FESTIVAL WILL BE HELD FROM 4TH – 14TH SEPTEMBER.
SERET, the largest Israeli film festival in the world is proud to open its screenings in Germany for 2022. The festival will feature full-length Israeli films, documentaries and short films.
We are celebrating the 7th anniversary of SERET Germany this year and the third consecutive year of holding a hybrid festival – both on screen for viewers who prefer the full in-cinema big-screen experience, and online streaming for viewers who prefer to watch at home. Our films would be available in various top venues in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, and Cologne.
Celebrating Israeli cinema and Israeli filmmakers past and present, SERET features a selection of short film by young Israeli film students from various film schools, who won SERET’s Promising Director Award.
As part of our ongoing collaboration with the Jewish Film Festival in Germany, which we are very proud of, we shall announce the winners of the Audience Favorite award based on the votes of viewers attending both festivals.
Our 2022 program is especially diverse and colorful and includes contemporary Israeli films as well as films dedicated to Israeli cultural heroes that are sadly no more with us: author Avraham B. Yehoshua, filmmaker and actor Ronit Elkabetz, playwright Anat Gov and author Amos Oz.
SERET is also taking part in another important project: FROM SDEROT TO BERLIN. this is a special program dedicated to films made by students from The School of Audio & Visual Arts at Sapir college, the largest public college in Israel. Their drama, fiction, documentary, and animation creations are brought to Berlin by the nonprofit organization Jewish Moving Pictures e.V. and with the support of Steglitz -Zehlendorf district. This is a rare opportunity for our audience to discover the unique voices of the up-and-coming filmmakers from the Israeli periphery.
SERET Germany is collaborating for the first time in 2022 with the Jüdische Kulturtage Berlin, screening together the films “Greener Pastures” and “On This Happy Note”.
Looking forward to have you as our guests in this celebration of Israeli cinema.
